Six new hotels are scheduled to open in Quintana Roo in 2019 bringing more than 1,000 guestrooms to the region.
An AMResorts representative revealed details of two of the hotels slated to come online. One will be Sunscape, a 400-room, four-star property located in Puerto Cancun.
The second will be the 500-room, five-star Now Hotel, to be located in Petempich Bay. The two properties are each expected to cost about $250 million to build.
The CEO of Apple Leisure Group, Alex Zozaya, has also said he plans to add 20 new hotels in the coming months to reach 75 properties throughout the Caribbean and Europe.
In addition, Robert Kistner, director of the Tafer project, said the hotel consortium is planning three properties under the Garza brand. This is in addition to the Mousai Hotel in Rivier Maya. A company based in Puerto Vallarta, Tafer has been expanding along the Mexican coasts.
