Beaches Negril Resort & Spa has copped yet another international environmental award. The resort was recently conferred with the Kuoni Green Planet Award for observing environmentally safe practices and ensuring that the hotel was environmentally-friendly. The award was presented by the Kuoni Travel Service based in Switzerland.

The Kuoni Green Planet Award is the second international award presented to Beaches Negril. In October 2004, the resort achieved the prestigious Green Globe 21 Benchmark Certificate.

"The presentation of the Kuoni Green Planet Award cements and solidifies the importance of the environmental initiatives and activities being carried by the resort in operating at the world´s highest environmental standard," said Kadie Ebanks, the resort´s Environment, Health and Safety Manager.

Ebanks said the resort´s team members worked consistently to ensure that Beaches Negril´s methods of operation in terms of conservation, consumption and the general observance of environmentally-friendly practices remained at high levels.

"Just recently," she continued, "we started an energy-saving drive, which reinforces the importance of doing everyday things in an environmentally safe manner. And so the presentation of the Kuoni Award at this time is just a reward of our efforts," she added.

The Kuoni Award was also conferred on three sister properties, Sandals Royal Caribbean, Beaches Boscobel Resort and Sandals Inn.
