Greater Fort Lauderdale will play host to the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s (NGLCC) first International Business & Leadership Conference in South Florida in August.

“We’re honored to welcome attendees, keynote speakers and top Corporate America brands to our welcoming community and to host the largest LGBT business development event in the world,” said Richard Gray, the CVB’s managing director for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) market.

The conference will feature a range of high-profile speakers, including Suze Orman; personal finance expert; Richard Quest, CNN aviation correspondent; Jonathan Capehart, Washington Post columnist and MSNBC contribute; and Sally Hogshead, a professional speak and author specializing in personal branding.

The sold-out NGLCC conference, to be held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa from Aug. 11 to 14, will account for 2,500 room nights, the CBV said.

The CVB created its first LGBT campaign as far back as 1996. Late last year, it raised the bar further still with an initiative focusing on ways in which to deliver welcoming and authentic travel experiences to transgender visitors.

In 2014, Greater Fort Lauderdale welcomed 1.5 million LGBTQ travelers, the CVB said.
