United Airlines has received FAA certification for its first Starlink-equipped aircraft, paving the way for high-speed satellite connectivity onboard. The first commercial flight is scheduled for May 2025 aboard a United Express Embraer 175, just eight months after United's deal with SpaceX.

United plans to install Starlink on approximately 40 regional jets per month, with the entire two-cabin regional fleet (more than 300 aircraft) expected to be completed by the end of the year. Before the first customer flight, United will conduct beta testing on select routes to ensure a seamless onboard experience.

Starlink will provide Wi-Fi speeds of up to 250 Mbps, which is 50 times faster than current regional aircraft speeds. MileagePlus® members will have free access to inflight internet, allowing them to stream movies, shop online, play games, and stay connected for work or leisure. Membership is free, and passengers can sign up at United’s website.

United is working closely with Starlink and the FAA to secure certification for over 16 aircraft models, ensuring expanded access across the fleet. The Starlink system is also lighter, more fuel-efficient, and designed for easy installation and maintenance, making it a key component of United’s commitment to improving the inflight experience.
