MSC Cruises Celebrates Delivery of MSC World America

MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l'Atlantique marked significant milestones for three World Class ships in Saint-Nazaire, France. The cruise line celebrated the delivery of MSC World America, the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia, and the steel cutting for MSC World Atlantic.
MSC World America: A New Flagship for North America
The 23rd ship in MSC Cruises' fleet, MSC World America, was officially delivered and will be named on April 9 at PortMiami's new MSC Cruise Terminal, the largest in the world. Designed for the North American market, the ship blends European elegance with American comfort and is among the most energy-efficient cruise ships worldwide.
Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago highlighted the long-standing partnership between MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l'Atlantique, which has produced 19 ships and five prototypes over the past 20 years. Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l'Atlantique, noted that MSC World America boasts the best energy efficiency design index (EEDI) in the cruise industry, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
MSC World Asia & MSC World Atlantic: Future Expansions
-
MSC World Asia: The coin ceremony marked a key construction milestone for this 2026-27 debuting ship, which will sail Mediterranean itineraries to France, Italy, Spain, and Malta.
-
MSC World Atlantic: Steel cutting commenced for the line’s fourth World Class ship, set to begin Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral in 2027-28.
World Class ships, first introduced with MSC World Europa in 2022, continue to push boundaries in design, technology, and guest experience. The naming convention honors continents and oceans, underscoring MSC Cruises' global reach rather than deployment locations.
A Commitment to Sustainability
MSC World America surpasses IMO's energy efficiency requirements with LNG-powered engines, shore power connectivity, advanced wastewater treatment, and an onboard recycling system. Recognizing these efforts, Bureau Veritas awarded MSC Cruises the Platinum Pearl Award for health, safety, and environmental excellence.
With these milestones, MSC Cruises continues to redefine the future of cruising, offering cutting-edge ships while prioritizing sustainability and guest experience.
