ASETUR Meeting Serves as Threshold to the 2023 Tianguis Turístico
A meeting of the Union de Secretarios de Turismo de México (ASETUR), headed by Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, served this Friday, March 24, as a prelude to the 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico, the most important travel and tourism event in Mexico.
This year's edition of the Tianguis Turístico will be held in Mexico City. In that sense, Miguel Torruco commented that it was always a dream for the Tianguis to be held in Mexico City, because it is the pearl, it is the jewel in the crown. "Here is the connectivity, here is really the regular central part to promote all the destinations," said Torruco Marqués, who also recalled that the holding of such an event in Mexico City was always promoted, "and finally, as they say colloquially, the stars aligned."
Torruco Marqués expressed that while it is true that in 2019 a radical change was made in Mexico's tourism policy, "I remind you that at the close of 2018 we were in 7th place in international tourism, in 7th place in foreign exchange earnings and in a very distant 40th place in per capita spending. A nation's tourism potential is not measured by the number of people received, but by the foreign exchange captured and, above all, by the benefit to the local population," Torruco Marqués told those present.
"We are on the right track and this year we will close the year with more than 31 billion dollars, the generation of jobs continues and, above all, we will have concluded the present administration having repositioned ourselves where the potential of a nation is really measured: in the economic aspect and in the benefit to the local population," stressed the head of Tourism of the Mexican Republic.
Nathalie Desplas, Secretary of Tourism in Mexico City, welcomed those present and expressed that "it is a pleasure to be with all of you prior to the celebration of the most important tourism event in Mexico and Latin America, the 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico.
The Association of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (ASETUR) is a non-profit civil association, formed with the objective of creating better conditions for the development of tourism promotion in the different states of the Mexican Republic represented in the organization.
