The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal, announced that in order to hold a safe Tianguis Turístico in Mérida, this event will be held from November 21 to 24 of this year.

The directors explained that the decision to move the 45th edition of this business meeting from September to November is the result of the search for the best option to hold a successful on-site Tianguis Turístico, which fulfills its main objective: to promote and market our different destinations, as well as their multiple products and services, while taking maximum care of the health of both the participants and the local population.

With this new date, there will be greater possibilities of attendance, based on the advances in vaccination against Covid-19 both in Mexico and globally, which will surely lead to greater attendance by international buyers.

Secretary Torruco Marqués affirmed that today the world is experiencing a more encouraging outlook, especially due to the application of vaccines against Covid-19, which is advancing every day in the different regions of the planet.

He cited Spain as an example, where the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) was held last week, sending a very clear message to the world tourism sector, that events of this magnitude can be held, as long as the biosanitary measures established by the competent authorities in the matter are respected.

"In the case of Mexico, the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the government of Yucatan continue working to hold the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico, which will take place in Merida. This event had to be suspended in March 2020 and postponed to September of this year. However, both Governor Mauricio Vila and myself have decided that this new edition of the Tianguis Turístico will be held from November 21 to 24," he said.

For his part, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal pointed out that the Tianguis Turístico will be a successful, strategic, efficient and in line with the latest trends that we all expect, but above all it will be the watershed of the post Covid-19 tourism recovery.

"This is going to be a great moment for us, because it will provide us with a great opportunity to showcase all the great attractions that Yucatán has to offer in terms of tourism and the new products we are presenting," said Vila Dosal.

Likewise, the Governor indicated that an innovative and different Tianguis Turístico is being organized, also due to the current pandemic situation, which is why it will be carried out under biosecurity conditions, following the protocols and sanitary measures to protect the health of Yucatecans and those who will come to participate in this event.

Secretary Torruco Marqués and Governor Vila Dosal specified that, in addition, they are working on logistics that will allow the event to be an area free of this disease, by implementing all the preventive measures and protocols indicated by both the World Health Organization and the Mexican Ministry of Health.

They emphasized that the priority will be bio-sanitary safety, and therefore, a first measure will be that, without exception, attendees will have to take an antigen test beforehand, which, if negative, will allow access to the event.

They indicated that this test will be linked to the badge and, in case someone has not taken it or has a positive result, he/she will not be able to access the site or the meetings related to the Tianguis.

In addition, through the official channels of the Tianguis Turístico, participants will be informed about the measures that will be carried out during the event.

In this way, participants can be confident that the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico will take place in an atmosphere of security that will contribute to the success of the event.
