Miami Audience Takes a Closer Look at FITUR 2024
The Community of Madrid made on May 5 in Miami the presentation of the Madrid International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) 2024, slated for January in the Spanish capital. The event, organized by IFEMA and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce in the U.S. city, was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Daniel Martinez.
Martínez recalled "the fundamental importance of FITUR as a showcase for Madrid tourism around the world" and stressed that the U.S. market is "the major reference" for the sector because of its leading number of visitors and its high spending power.
In this sense, the Deputy Minister of Madrid recalled that in the past year 2022 more than 753,000 people from this country visited the Community, which placed it at the head of the statistics in arrivals of international travelers to the region.
In addition, in this same period, and according to the real estate consulting firm Colliers, international groups invested 803 million in Madrid in 19 operations, figures that demonstrate the interest of large hotel chains in the region.
"The U.S. tourism market is extremely important. It has been participating in Fitur since 1995 and with very important companies, but we think it has a dimension and strength that would allow it to be even better represented by both exhibitors and professional visitors," said the fair's director, María Valcarce, after the presentation at the East hotel in Miami.
