SOTIC 2023 Gets Going in Turks and Caicos Islands
The Caribbean Tourism Organization's (CTO) flagship event, the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), began yesterday in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.
Within the framework of the important meeting of government and private sector tourism leaders, and under the central theme “Investment and financing of tourism in the Caribbean.”
The keynote address was given by Kenneth Bryan, President of the Caribbean Tourism Organization, CTO, and Minister of Tourism of the Cayman Islands.
Firstly, he thanked Josephine Connolly, Minister of Tourism of the Turks and Caicos Islands, for hosting this prestigious event. And she talked about the main topic of the day, investments in the region. “In my humble opinion, investments in our tourism sectors must be very selective and based on the mutual understanding and commitments of like-minded people and entities that recognize and appreciate the Caribbean for what it is; “a hidden treasure of incomparable natural beauty and important resources.
Among the main topics discussed in this important meeting that will last until Friday the 13th, in addition to the Perspectives on investment trends, associations and maximization of tourism growth; Topics such as Sustainable Financing for Caribbean Tourism will be addressed; Strategies to Position Caribbean Tourism for New Investment Opportunities; Sustainability: the new tool in the destination marketing mix; Aviation Competitiveness in the Caribbean; Digital transformation in tourism: a roadmap for the Caribbean; Engaging the filmed entertainment industry to promote Caribbean tourism: opportunities and challenges; and stakeholders talk about the path to tourism growth in the context of the TCI experience.
