Viewed as a platform to exchange ideas, build relationships and explore new opportunities to promote tourism, World Travel Expo, Miami 2023, officially opened Tuesday June 14 in Miami.

Global decision-makers from airlines, airports, tourism bureaus, tour operators, travel agents, and other professionals from the industry, have gathered in South Florida in a bid to build high value relationships with influential national and international travel industry professionals.

WTE CEO Javier Pérez Palencia welcomed attendees and the press media to the inaugural two-day WTE fair taking place at the Miami International Airport Convention Center.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the advisory committee. The house Miami International Airport our global partners and global sponsors, the greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, American Airlines and also to the Miami Dade County for making this event happen”, Mr. Palencia said in his opening remarks.

For her part, Olga Ramudo, Chairwoman of WTE and President of Express Travel, acknowledged that WTE is good for business and for pleasure. “It's good for trade. It's good for everything. Miami used to be known as the land of beaches and flamingos. But not anymore. Miami is an international city that welcomes international businesses and two way trade”, she said.

Other keynote speakers during the opening session of WTE Miami 2023 were José A. Freig, Vice President of Operations & Commercial for Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America (MCLA) at American Airlines; Ralph Cutié, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department; Dana Young, President & CEO of Visit Florida, and Rolando Aedo, Chief Operating Officer with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

This inaugural fair in Miami provides a unique opportunity to learn to connect and generate new friendships and new businesses at a time when the global travel industry is still bouncing back from the Covid-19 pandemic that brought the world to a standstill for nearly two years and made the industry lose more than 62 million jobs in one fell swoop.

Expanding opportunities for brands and companies from the travel and tourism industry to build high-value relationships with influential national and international travel professionals, WTE attendees can expect to hear from some of the most influential voices in the travel industry and participate in thought-provoking panel discussions.
