American Airlines, immediately looking to take advantage of the U.S.-Argentina agreement that will allow more airline service between the two countries, has asked the Transportation Department for approval to begin daily service from Chicago (O’Hare) to Buenos Aires October 28.

The carrier, which plans to offer the service on 219-seat, two-class 767 aircraft, asked for “expedited approval” of its application so it can begin promotions and sales as soon as possible. The U.S. and Argentina reached their new agreement March 22 and expect to sign it soon.

Its provisions include the immediate addition of 21 more weekly frequencies for U.S. carriers. American is asking for seven to begin the Chicago-Buenos Aires service.
