Air Canada Criticizes New U.S. Customs Fee on Air Travelers
Air Canada said that it is disappointed to see an additional government fee levied on air travelers, referring to an additional $5.50 custom fee on travelers arriving in the United States by air from Canada.
The airline is urging the U.S. government to address staffing shortages in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) pre-clearance resources at Canadian airports in order to better meet demand for U.S.-bound travelers. It says that it is not clear that the new fee will be used to staff up pre-clearance facilities.
