BCD Travel has expanded its operations in Brazil by acquiring a stake in current partner Avipam, an independent travel management company with five offices and more than 400 employees around the country. Avipam serves some 900 corporate customers, with annual sales nearing $200 million.

“We are excited by the decision to forge a strategic partnership with BCD Travel. We feel this decision helps secure our future role in a global marketplace by aligning ourselves with a company that understands the importance combining global reach and purchasing power with local expertise and flexibility for its customers,” said Fernando Slomp, president of Avipam.

“This move sends a strong signal to the Brazilian and international markets that as a global player in the TMC industry, BCD Travel is committed to being where our customers need us to be, with owned presence in key markets, and uniformly excellent service in all of them,” Mike Buckman, CEO of BCD Travel, pointed out.
