Bermuda Considering Casino Gambling

Bermuda’s Premier Ewart Brown said that the Innovation Group, an international provider of consulting services in gaming, leisure and hospitality industries, will conduct a market assessment to determine the gaming revenue potential for Bermuda, examine the legislative controls required for gaming, and also look at the possible direct and indirect impact on society and the economy.

Premier Ewart Brown has announced a joint venture between his administration and the Bermuda Hotel Association (BHA) to conduct a $300,000 feasibility study on gaming in the island. Depending on the outcome of the research, which will be done by the Innovation Group, a national lottery could also be established.

Premier Brown said that the Innovation Group, an international provider of consulting services in gaming, leisure and hospitality industries, will conduct a market assessment to determine the gaming revenue potential for Bermuda, examine the legislative controls required for gaming, and also look at the possible direct and indirect impact on society and the economy.

He added that he expected a public consultation on the issue and that the various positions on the issue of gaming in Bermuda would form a key part of the ultimate report done by the Innovation Group.
