Canadian Travel Agents Hosted on Antigua Fam Trip

The Antigua Ministry of Tourism recently collaborated with the Sandals Grande Resort and Spa to host a large contingent of travel agents in an ongoing series of Mega Familiarization Trips designed to boost business for the upcoming season.

Some 200 travel agents from across Canada arrived last week at the VC Bird International Airport. The agents were treated to a sumptuous Caribbean buffet on the beach at Sandals before conducting an intensive site inspection to get a firsthand experience of the property. Later in the afternoon, they conducted another site inspection at the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort.

The agents further increased their product knowledge of the destination and resorts when they attended a marketing seminar on Saturday morning at Sandals. They engaged in water sports and other adventures before their departure on Saturday evening.

The group was accompanied by Antigua & Barbuda’s Marketing and Sales Manager in Canada Erica Henry-Jackman, and representatives from Air Canada Vacations, Air Transat, and the Sandals Canada team.

Henry-Jackman noted, “With increased airlift from Canada during the past year, we continue to create opportunities for greater education and awareness among all industry partners which will lead to increased visitor arrivals and sales."

Visitor arrivals from Canada increased by 20 percent during the first half of the year, and Henry-Jackman said she is looking forward to continued growth in the Canadian marketplace for the upcoming winter season.
