The new discount airline in Columbus wants to fly beyond the U.S. borders. In an application with the federal Transportation Department, Skybus says it wants to offer service to Cancun, Mexico, and Nassau in the Bahamas.

A spokesman for the airline says Skybus expects to begin going to at least one of those places later this year. The other route is likely to come in 2008.

Skybus began flying last month out of Port Columbus International Airport and now offers seats to several U.S. destinations for as little as ten dollars, before taxes and fees.
