Crystal Debuts 2-for-1 Fares for All 2010 Sailings

Crystal Cruises unveiled a complete revamping of its 2010 pricing and promotions, as well as extended value added features.
Effective Monday, Sept. 21, the line is offer two-for-one fares for all sailings and destinations; “All-Inclusive-As You Wish” spending credits for all destinations up to $2,000; free roundtrip air for most cruises; free business-class air for Penthouse categories in Europe; and a price guarantee program.
These new promotions, which can be combined and offered in conjunction with Crystal’s 20th anniversary in 2010, will be as much as 15 to 20 percent lower than comparable cruises in 2009, whether guests take advantage of the free air/sea package, including transfers, or whether they opt to take the cruise-only credit.
Crystal is making its offer after it surveyed more than 2,000 consumers and travel agents, using the Harrison Group and Dialogue research companies. The research discovered that Crystal was the most respected brand of all luxury cruise lines measured.
It also revealed that most high-end cruise travelers respond better, in order, to two-for-one pricing, onboard credits, free air and free shore excursions. Based on the survey findings, nearly all of Crystal’s 2010 cruises have been re-priced to offer guests larger savings, convenience and greater value for its sailings worldwide.
Other luxury cruise lines have made similar offers to Crystal’s his past year, but perhaps not as extensive or all-encompassing. For instance, Regent Seven Seas in February offered free air, two-for-one savings and free unlimited shore excursions on many of its voyages in 2009.
Crystal’s research also confirmed that its existing price guarantee program resonates with travelers who feel they might be penalized for booking early. For 2010, Crystal will retain its Crystal Assurance Plan, which means that guests are assured they will get Crystal’s lowest published fares, even if the line reduces fares. Like other cruise lines, Crystal does not offer agents a commission guarantee program.
In celebration of Crystal’s 20th anniversary in 2010, the line is keeping its Birthday Bonus promotion. If travelers book by Dec. 31, 2009, and sail on their birthday in 2010, they can save 50 percent off a second cruise-only fare taken before their 2011 birthday. In addition, birthday guests can celebrate their 2010 birthday with a special champagne breakfast and a Captain’s Quarters birthday party.
In 2010, Crystal sails to six continents on 62 voyages that range from seven to 108 days on its two ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. Among the highlights of 2010 are the World Cruise, which can be sold as individual voyages of 12 to 21 days, and the annual President’s Cruise, which in 2010 travels from Dubai to Piraeus.
