Cuba, Chile Inaugurate Nonstop Flights
Cubana de Aviacion has inaugurated a direct flight between Santiago de Chile and Havana in an effort to boost the flow of Chilean visitors to Cuba.
The first flight, an IL-96 Cubana jetliner, took off from the Chilean capital on Friday with 230 passengers on board, reported Prensa Latina.
Rafael Alcala, director of Havanatur Cuban tour operator in Chile said the new route between the two capital cities will be operating through January and February.
Before the plane took off, Cubana de Aviacion representatives showed the jetliner to tour operators, travel agents and journalists, who were impressed by the comfort of the aircraft.
Among the companies involved in the project to increase the number of Chilean tourists traveling to Cuba, are Tour Mundial, Solways, Vía Club, Caribbean Services and Viajes Marsans.
