Cuba, Portugal Strengthen Tourism Ties
Manuel Marrero, Cuban Minister of Tourism, and Adolfo Mesquita, Secretary of Tourism of Portugal, expressed their interest in boosting bilateral ties in this sector.
Both officials agreed that the two nations will benefit if they work together in a meeting held on the occasion of the 34th Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur), according to press release from the Embassy of Cuba in the European country and published by Prensa Latina news agency.
The meeting was also attended by the ambassador of the island in Portugal, Johana Tablada , and the Minister of Tourism of Cuba 's embassy in Spain , Dulce María Sánchez .
Marrero had business contacts with Portuguese tourism professionals as the Pestana Group and tour operators working in Cuba.
In 2013 nine thousand 440 Portuguese people traveled to Cuba, which meant a slight increase compared to 2012.
This year Portuguese tour operators announced they will organize charter flights to Varadero on Saturdays from June 7 through September 20.
