Delta Airlines to Fly to Guyana Beginning in June
With the exit of North American Airlines from the Guyanese market on Monday, most people who travel between Guyana and North America have been left with little or no choice but to use Travelspan.
However, on Tuesday, Guyana’s tourism minister Manniram Prashad confirmed that, beginning June 1, Delta Airlines will begin operations in the country.
Mr. Prashad said the airline arrives at a great time, as both visitors and Guyanese traveling through the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) in Guyana were beginning to worry.
He notes that the commencement of the Delta Airlines operation here is well on track, with Roraima Airways staff managing the local operations.
In addition, Prashad noted that Travelspan will resume service on June 28 with two flights per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. And out of Toronto, Canada, the minister added that Sky Service will begin a direct flight to Guyana beginning July 1.
Meanwhile, there has been talk of another international carrier entering the Guyanese market shortly; however, officials in Guyana remain tightlipped on the issue.
