Nassau._ E-commerce is proving to be the way to do business, in today´s fast-paced world. And the Bahamas is no exception when it comes to logging on to that trend, as The Nassau Guardian reports.

"E-commerce is great way to increase productivity here in the Bahamas," says Mr. Daniel Thompson, business lecturer at the College of the Bahamas School of Business.

It can be a system used by sectors such as agriculture, as a means of linking up to manufacturing outlets for the purpose of marketing their products, he stated.

Additionally, Thompson said the growth of the e-commerce trade here would also serve as support for local entrepreneurs and the community as a whole.

"In fact, e-commerce along with more training in information technology, can play a very vital role. It can enhance our tourism development, add new activities to our base stores, and thus provide services for companies all over the world," he added."

"Therefore," he stressed, "we need to expand our technical institutes to increase the potential for excellent business opportunities here in the Bahamas."

Monte Hanna, president of Future-Net, a certification computer training school in the Bahamas, said the Bahamas was moving towards becoming an e-commerce center.

"We´re a tourist destination, therefore we have a centre for training in the area of tourism, we have a banking centre, so we have banking class, so then, we also need to have a centre for e-commerce training."

There is no doubt that there are others who also agreed with that e-commerce training was needed.
