Eating, Drinking, Biking in Uruguay
Explorateur Journeys, a New Jersey-based company that “curates travel for the globally curious,” is offering a program that combines biking and gastronomy with an exploration of the backroads of Uruguay.
The company creates its packages on a custom basis to the specifications of clients, but the basic template for the Chef On Wheels program is an exploration of Uruguay by bicycle with a special focus on the local cuisine, including meetings with chefs and cooking instructions.
Exploring cyclists will travel through the town of Carmelo, take a tour of a local winery, shop at a local market, experience a home-cooked meal with local residents and have dinner with a local chef.
The itinerary includes beach time at the capital city of Montevideo, visits to art exhibitions, more chefs and home cooked meals and finally concludes with a cycling and canoeing adventure at the Garzon lagoon, with lunch by a local chef and a chance to meet and visit with local children.
