Excelencias Group Gets Accolade at FIHA 2016’s Closing Ceremony

Cuba grabbed 17 prizes for its presentations at the 34th edition of the Havana International Fair, walking out of the event as the most awarded country during the closing ceremony in which the Excelencias Group won a mention in the Public Relations Category for its Excelencias Turísticas del Caribe y las Américas magazine.

Excelencias nabbed this mention in PR for advertising its publication in a massive way by means of a promotional performance that allowed readers to customize the magazine’s cover with personal photos and upload them to the social media in real time.

The company’s president and CEO Jose Carlos de Santiago picked up the award as he was congratulated by all the high-ranking officials that presided over the ceremony, including Cuba’s minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.

Cuba’s minister of Food Industry Maria del Carmen Concepcion; Industry minister Salvador Pardo; first deputy minister of Agriculture Julio Andres Garcia; first deputy minister of Tourism Alexis Trujillo; chairman of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Orlando Hernandez; president of the Mariel Special Development Zone Office Ana Teresa Igarza; president of Grupo Empresarial Palco Abraham Masique; Expocuba director Pedro Abreu, and other boldface names also attended the closing ceremony.

The keynote speech was delivered by Minister Malmierca, who said that beyond a nonstop increase in the number of participating countries and exhibitors, the fair has clearly enhanced its purposes and strengthened its end results.

Mr. Malmierca also highlighted the First Investment Forum and the presentation of the third Investment Opportunities Portfolio as two moves aimed at bringing Cuban and foreign businesspeople closer together.

He wrapped up his remarks by thanking Cuba’s top trade partners, such as Russia, China and Spain, for having massive turnouts at the fair. He also underscored the significance of buttressing regional integration throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
