Excelencias Groups Presented with Art from Ecuador
A lively chat a the Casa del Alba was the outcome of the meeting in Havana between Ecuador’s “Desde la Mirada” and the publishing team of the Arte por Excelencias magazine, within the framework of the activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the Iberian-American Cultural Celebration, this time around slated for October 24-30 in the city of Holguin, in eastern Cuba.
José Carlos de Santiago, President of the Excelencias Group and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, was presented with a painting on canvas entitled “Nuevas Alegrías” (New Joys), by Ecuadorean painter Paula Ordonez. The precious gift was handed by cultural promoter Ghislaine Izaguirre, who has gathered women artists from over fifteen countries since 2011.
The function unfolded amid songs, poems and reflections as the “Desde la Mirada” team members shared their views on women, diversity and the role played by the arts as a rallying agent of social conscience.
Poet Waldo Leyva, director of the Casa del Alba, and singer Rochy Ameneiro, coordinator of the Tod@s Project, as well as Mr. José Carlos de Santiago and a number of Ecuadorean and Cuban women, were in attendance.
