First-Quarter Economic Indicators Show Gains in Dominica´s Travel Industry
The tourism sector in Dominica performed better in the first quarter of 2006 (January thru March) compared to the corresponding period in 2005, according to the Central Statistical Office Quarterly Economic Indicator.
The total number of visitor arrivals for the period under review was 168,604, compared to 128,404 in the same period last year largely as a result of the large number of cruise ship visitors which increased from 108,337 to 150,114.
Correspondingly, there were 148 cruise ship calls in the first quarter, compared to only 105 in the same period last year.
