Five Hotels and Resorts in Cuba Americans Can’t Wait to Visit

With travel to Cuba beginning to open up for Americans, there's optimism that travelers will soon be able to vacation on the Caribbean island without having to jump through loopholes. If and when that day arrives, here are five hotels and resorts we've got our sights set on.

Hotel Saratoga

This hotel is ideal for a relaxing getaway but is also perfect for the working traveler. Located in the heart of Havana, Hotel Saratoga boasts a seventh-floor spa equipped with a jacuzzi.

What's more, visitors don't have to leave the hotel to experience Cuban cuisine and can head up to the rooftop to enjoy a meal and beverage while taking in expansive views of Havana and the Caribbean sea.

For road warriors, the hotel features a pair of meeting rooms and a business center that's open seven days a week.

Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort and Spa

This five-star all-inclusive resort is located on the opposite end of the island in Cuba's Holguin province and is limited to adults only.

In addition to beach access, amenities here include a handful of restaurants and bars as well as a pool, spa, fitness center and tennis courts. And because it's all-inclusive, land- and water-based activities are included when you book a room, which will cost you between $200 and $300 per night.

Iberostar Varadero

Located on Cuba's Hicacos peninsula, this five-star hotel is situated directly on the beach. Time and again, this hotel has been ranked among the best in Varadero and, like the Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort and Spa, it was a 2015 TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award winner.

The large rooms, beautiful views and nightly entertainment stand out here, making it a perfect destination for a quiet couples retreat.

Hotel Nacional de Cuba

Travel back in time with a stay at Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana. Over the years, the hotel has hosted countless celebrities, including Frank Sinatra, John Wayne and Robert De Niro.

Opened in 1930, this historic luxury hotel features hundreds of rooms and more than a dozen suites spread across eight stories. Room rates typically start around $160 and amenities include a pool, a bar and a fitness center.

Whatever you get into, don't leave before taking in views of the ocean or trying a delicious Cuban sandwich.

Melia Buenavista

This all-inclusive adults-only beach resort offers guests a tremendous level of relaxation and privacy highlighted by the private outdoor showers that come with each room.

Guests here will have direct beach access of course, but also 24-hour concierge, room service and butler service from morning until night. There are also three restaurants and three bars located on site for convenient dining.

Located just west of Cayo Santa Maria, the resort boasts gorgeous white sandy beaches and calming background music that provides a soundtrack for your stay.
