Florida’s St. Lucie County Partners with the Bahamas for Tourism
St. Lucie County in the U.S. state of Florida hopes a partnership with the Bahamas will draw tourists to what a new county campaign calls the “Jewel of the Treasure Coast.”
Commissioners agreed at Tuesday’s meeting to work with the Bahamas to increase tourism dollars in both areas. Efforts could include events such as boat races from Fort Pierce to the islands as well as using the Port of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie International Airport as pit stops for out-of-state travelers heading to the Bahamas.
A written agreement will be sent to the Bahamian officials and a follow-up meeting could take place in the next couple weeks to work on the first project.
