Foreign Investment in Dominican Hotel Industry Gets Big Leg Up
The hotel sector in the Dominican Republic grabbed as many as $69 million worth of foreign investments in the first half of the ongoing year, official sources say.
The increase climbed a whopping 31,9 percent as compared to that figures posted in the same period in 2005, according to the Direct Foreign Investment Department of the Dominican Export and Investment Center.
So far this year, tourism minister Felix Jimenez has okayed a global amount of $1,536,683 for projects to be bankrolled by foreign investors.
This portfolio´s objective is to implement a diversified supply of tourist services so that Dominican Republic is not seen only as an all-included destination, but also as an ecotourist, golf, adventure and nautical destination in a healthy environment.
