Globus Offers Deal on Portugal River Cruise
Globus is offering $200 off per person on the air-inclusive price of a Portugal river cruise when booked by March 31. Cruisers interested in booking their own airfare receive $100 off per person. The 11-day vacation begins with free time in Lisbon before traveling to Oporto to embark on a seven-night cruise.
The cruise sails on the Douro River. Flamenco and Portuguese shows are presented onboard. The cruise also includes a Portuguese meal at the 14th-century former Benedictine monastery in Bitetos before sailing to Regua for visits Lamego’s Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies shrine and the Mateus wine estate.
In Pinhão, the center of the port winemaking region, passengers will visit the Wine Academy for a wine tasting. Guests then take a guided walking tour of Salamanca, Spain, viewing the 16th-century House of Shells, former bullfighting arena at Plaza Mayor and the ornate cathedral.
In medieval Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, passengers can explore the steep, narrow streets lined with almond trees, visit the castle and watch for storks, the symbol of the village.
Back in Oporto, they will take a guided sightseeing tour, then travel along the Atlantic coast and stop at a port wine lodge to visit the cellars and sample the wine. A guided sightseeing tour in Lisbon is the finale. The vacation is priced from $2,549 land and cruise-only.
