Grupo Aeromexico Reports 3.2 Percent Increase in Passenger Numbers

Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B. de C.V., the largest intercontinental airline in Mexico, reports operating statistics for July, 2012. Grupo Aeromexico over transported 1.4 million passengers in July 2012; which represents a 3.2 percent year-on-year growth for the month of July.

Domestic passenger traffic grew 4 percent, while international passenger traffic grew 1.3 percent. The total number of passengers transported in the first seven months of 2012 reached eight million 607 thousand; a 5.6 percent year-on-year increase, with a 9.1 percent increase in international passenger traffic and a 4.4 percent increase in domestic passenger traffic.

In July, Grupo Aeromexico's demand, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK's), increased 2.9 percent, and capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK's), grew 7.2 percent, year-on-year. As a result, the load factor for the month was 83.4 percent.

The Company's RPKs increased 6 percent and ASKs increased 7.1 percent in the first seven months of the year. Therefore, the load factor was 77.8 percent.

According to the latest report published by the DGAC (Direccion General de Aeronáutica Civil – Mexico's National Aviation Authority), in June of 2012, Grupo Aeromexico controlled 38 percent of the domestic market and 15 percent of the international market. In the first half of the year, Grupo Aeromexico's overall market share was 25 percent, with 39 percent of the domestic market and 13 percent of the international market.
