Holland America’s Signature-Class Liner Takes Name
Holland America Line has decided on a name for its first Signature-class vessel: the Eurodam. The 2,044-passenger ship, the largest to be constructed by the line, is to be delivered in summer 2008.
The 86,000-ton Eurodam will be built at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard with an estimated all-in cost of $450 million. HAL has a second Signature-class ship on option with Fincantieri, with delivery scheduled for spring 2010.
The vessel will feature 11-passenger decks, a 144-seat Pan-Asian restaurant, a 50-seat lounge overlooking the Lido pool, a new Explorer’s Lounge Bar, a specialty Italian restaurant, a new atrium bar area, and an enhanced and reconfigured show lounge with theater-style seating.
The Eurodam will be configured with 63 more staterooms than the Vista-class ships, including 47 verandah cabins and 10 cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows. Eighty-six percent of the cabins will be outside staterooms of which 67 percent feature verandahs.
