Holland America Line will base eight ships in Europe in 2014, offering 105 departures of 57 seven- to 42-day itineraries. The ships that will sail the continent next year are Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Maasdam, Noordam, Rotterdam, Ryndam, Veendam and Prinsendam.

Maiden calls are scheduled at Antalya, Turkey; Burgàs, Bulgaria; Ijmuiden (Amsterdam), the Netherlands; Itea and Kavala, Greece; La Palais on Belle-Ile-en-Mer and Montoir-de-Bretagne (Nantes), France.

Round-trip options are available from nine ports — Amsterdam, Boston, Rome, Venice, Copenhagen, Dover (London), Fort Lauderdale, Athens and Rotterdam.

One notable new itinerary is the D-Day 70th anniversary cruise on the Eurodam’s 12-day cruise departing April 29 from Rome to Copenhagen. The ship will call at ports in Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar before arriving at Portland, England, to visit Stonehenge and then continuing north to Cherbourg (Normandy), France, where the World War II battle took place June 6, 1944. The cruise calls at Zeebrugge (Brussels), Belgium, before concluding at Copenhagen. Cruise fares begin at $1,899 per person, double occupancy.
