Investment in Dominican Travel Industry to Surpass $1.5 Billion in 2007
Investments in the Dominican tourism sector will surpass 1.5 billion dollars this year and the next, to include new hotels and grandiose constructions for developing real estate, according to Tourism minister Felix Jimenez.
To consolidate these investments, the National Tourism Development Institute will be created, with a view to secure continuity in infrastructure works along the tourism poles.
The project to create this institute will be submitted to the Congress for approval, and will operate with autonomy similarly to the Dominican Telecom Institute, and will be represented by public and private sectors, according with Jimenez.
