Jamaica Continues Trade Push as Tourism Minister Visits UK

The Jamaica Tourist Board had rolled out two online training modules and a series of fam trips in the final stages of the CTO Caribbean month. The tourism board is to host 150 agents during its ‘Jamaica Five-O’ mega fams, which continue into this month and it has also continued to visit agents on its roadshow, including those on the Isle of Man.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and director of tourism John Lynch met with travel partners in the UK last week in an effort to increase visitor arrivals and as a pre-WTM visit. This included a meeting with chocolate brand Charbonnel et Walker to discuss Jamaica’s coca industry and plans to launch a chocolate brand next year.

“Our time in the UK, albeit short, was invaluable in terms of helping support and strengthen our tourism product in the UK market,” said Bartlett. “To do this, we’ve strived not just to look at existing channels of support, such as with our travel partners but also areas that have not been explored and exploited for some time, such as with Jamaica’s cocoa industry”.
