Load factor Continues Strong for Vueling as New CEO Takes Charge
Vueling carried a total of 6,219,605 passengers during 2007, an increase of 77.20 percent in relation to 2006 as the carrier reported. Annual average load factor was 73 percent, 3.61 points above last year’s.
Vueling carried a total of 1,603,265 passengers during Q4 2007 (from October to December) and 534,808 passengers during last December, which translates into increases of 67.23 percent for the former, and 45.23 percent for the latter.
Last of all, average load factor for Q4 2007 was 66.74 percent, 2.69 points above that of the same period in 2006, while December’s load factor was 63.57 percent, a decrease of 6.75 points in relation to the same period last year.
The concentration of long holiday periods during December (three out of the four weeks in the month: the Constitution long weekend in Spain, as well as Christmas’ and New Year’s holidays) has affected Vueling’s business routes, and that has been a determining factor in the load factor’s decrease in December.
For the current month of January the company has adjusted its capacity to the holiday periods, so that it minimizes their influence on its seat load factors.
All these results hit the headlines as Vueling’s Board of Directors has ratified the appointment of Mr. Lars Nygaard as Chief Executive Officer.
