Mazatlan Announces $12.3 Million for Tourism Marketing

During this year’s 36th Annual Tianguis Turistico, taking place March 25 to 29, 2011, in the Acapulco Convention Center, the Mazatlan tourism officials announced a new investment of $12.3 million in tourism marketing to promote the destination throughout Mexico and in North America.

The investment will allocate a fixed sum in support of the marketing and promotion of new flights as well as provide for initiatives that cultivate tourism partnerships and participating from the Mexico Tourism Board and other business partners, including tour operators.

Additionally, the organization also announced a new, nonstop, two-hour Dallas-Mazatlan flight that will launch on June 9, and a $8.3 million renovation of the Mazatlan Aquarium, including new exhibits like a shark tank -- the largest in Mexico -- as well as an underwater passageway for spectators, a new ray pool and the chance for visitors to swim in a giant tank populated by a variety of different species.
