Mexico’s Asur December Passenger Traffic Up 1 Percent
Mexican airport operator Asur said on Wednesday its passenger traffic rose 1 percent in the busy December holiday month, as international visitors favored the Caribbean resort of Cancun and the cities of Oaxaca and Tapachula.
But Asur’s results showed domestic passengers fell by 8.6 percent last month, partially reflecting economic woes hurting clients amid a financial crisis. International traffic rose 9.3 percent in December from the previous year.
Asur, which operates nine airports in southern Mexico, struggled for most of 2008 with rising fuel prices.
