Mexico’s Foreign Visitors Spent 12 Percent More in 2010
According to Perspectives on Tourism, a survey produced by credit card company Visa, the average amount of money spent in Mexico by foreign visitors increased by 12 percent last year, compared with 2009. The survey takes into account the company’s credit card holders who visited the country. During 2009, Visa’s clients spent $4 billion.
According to the VisaVue figures, U.S. visitors continue to contribute the most to the coffers of Mexico’s tourism sector, last year spending $3.1 billion, up 7 percent on the previous year, with Canadians in second place. The top contributors from Europe were Spain, France and the U.K.
