Fly Montserrat, a new carrier based on Montserrat, will launch service June 1. “A Montserrat-based airline will provide the stability, reliability and flexibility to bring visitors to and from Montserrat from other islands,” said Nigel Harris, the airline’s managing director.

The development of tourist-related services “will be a priority for the company because current access is demonstrably inadequate,” Harris said.

Winair currently is the only carrier serving Montserrat, with four daily roundtrips from Antigua on 19-seat aircraft. Montserrat lost its other scheduled service when Carib Aviation ceased operations last September.

Fly Montserrat’s first nine-seat Islander plane is scheduled for delivery in mid-May, Harris said. The airline will offer flights to Antigua and other islands, although the route network has not been determined.

Fly Montserrat also plans to offer air ambulance services, freight transport, on-demand charters and day trips.
