NCL Paying Agents Bonus to Sell San Juan Cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line will pay a $50 bonus commission for each new booking on eight upcoming Norwegian Dawn cruises from San Juan.

A spokeswoman said an earlier plan to pay commission on what are normally noncommissionable charges caused complications and was scrapped. The departure dates of the cruises are Nov. 12, 19, 26; Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 28; and Jan. 7.

Norwegian said most hotels in the Condado area of San Juan are accepting reservations from Nov. 1 forward and San Juan International Airport is slowly ramping up and is expected to be closer to a normal operating schedule a month from now.

"We ask for your support in reaffirming San Juan as a beautiful point of embarkation for Norwegian Dawn and the role our guests will play in supporting the local economy," senior vice president of sales Camille Olivere said in a note to travel partners.

The bonus commission applies to new bookings made after Oct. 5. Olivere said the most hurricane-impacted ports on the Dawn's itineraries have been removed. For example, the Dec. 3 voyage will bypass Antigua and St. Croix.

In addition to incentivizing agents, Norwegian has offered customer specials, such as a sale through Oct. 9 that offers up to $1,000 in onboard spending credits on 2017 Caribbean cruises. The offer may be combined with the Free at Sea promotion that gives guests a choice of free amenities.
