New York City to Break Visitor Record This Year
New York City will welcome a record-breaking 54.3 million visitors this year, according to NYC & Company.
By the end of 2013, visitors will have generated $58.7 billion in economic impact and $39.4 billion in direct spending.
“Since 2002, overall tourism here has grown more than 50 percent, while international visitation has increased more than 100 percent,” said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a statement.
Average hotel occupancy is expected to be 87.8 percent, with the average daily rate up 4 percent to $296. The city will reach the 100,000-room mark by the end of next year. In 2012, the city welcomed 52.7 million visitors came to New York City.
