Overnight Stays in Leipzig Posted 3.6 Percent Rise in First Half of 2008

Figures released by the Saxony Statistics Office put the number of visitors arriving in the German city of Leipzig and staying for at least one night in the first six months of 2008 at 482,199, up from 467,074 in 2007. This marks a 3.4 percent rise.

The number of overnight stays rose 3.6 percent in the first six months of 2008 to 887,384 from 859,569. The average accommodation occupancy rate in Leipzig increased to 68.7 percent, up from 64.4 percent. According to a study of the hotel market worldwide by PKF hotelexperts, RevPAR in Leipzig rose 13.9 percent to 43.01 euros.
