Puerto Plata Works to Recover ‘Most Complete Destination’ Label

The 2012 summer season’s grand opening showcased Puerto Plata’s tourism industry and showed why sector leaders consider it the Caribbean’s most complete destination.

The description is based on Puerto Plata’s tradition as the first major tourism destination in the country and in addition to sun and beach, its wide range of attractions featuring picturesque urban communities, family themes, mountain tourism, renown gastronomy, sports, art and culture.

Puerto Plata and North Coast tourism sector representatives invited more than 300 travel agents and journalists to tout the revamped hotels at Playa Dorada, Cofresi, Maimon, Sosua and Cabarete’ near natures attractions including several complementary projects of a marina, a theme park and cable car.

The city’s Central Park served as the backdrop for companies boasted their best products and services, from exquisite buffets capped with the most original desserts in the country, and a raucous performance by area groups and dance revues.

To welcome the participants, Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster president Maximo Iglesias said progress has been made to restore the North Coast’s rightful place as the region’s most complete destination.
