Q & A with Marja Hoogendijk, Sales Manager for The Reef Playacar Resort & Spa Hotel, Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Born in Holland, the representative of The Reef Playacar Resort talked with Caribbean News Digital about the hotel’s experience with the Russian market in recent years, which is encouraged by the gradual discovery of the Mexican Caribbean and the existence of charter flights to Cancun.
Is this the first time you participate in Moscow Leisure?
We have participated in the last three years.
What about the results?
Great results. Since the first time we attended the show, we started working with the Russian market and we’re already obtaining the results we wanted. We have also been benefited by the policy change related to the visa needed to travel to Mexico, as it now can be obtained faster than it was in previous years.
Do you think that Riviera Maya is a more attracting destination for Russian tourists than Cancun?
I believe that Riviera Maya has a lot to offer, not only to the Russian market but to every market.
What are the top tour operators you work with?
We work with South Cross and Caribbean Club and we receive many reservations from incoming; mainly from Prime Travel. We’re currently negotiating with other Russian tour operators in order to establish new commercial relations.
Is the charter from the Russian market to Cancun relevant for you?
Yes, it’s quite important.
How many rooms does the hotel count on?
Our hotel counts on 200 rooms. The hotel’s villages are surrounded by tropical gardens and lots of vegetation, providing a friendly and intimate atmosphere. The Resort is based in Playa del Carmen, next to the Fifth Avenue and we have a large and gorgeous beach.
