Quito Seeks Bids for $35 Million Business & Tourism Complex
Quito, Ecuador launched competitive bidding for the construction and management of a business and tourism complex including a $35 million convention center, events arena and exhibition center, said Quito Tourism Board officials. The 28-acre facility is planned for the site of the former Mariscal Sucre international airport within the 314-acre Bicentenario Park.
The project is part of an effort by Quito’s municipal government, in conjunction with Ecuador’s national government, to initiate new infrastructure projects for Quito’s metropolitan district including the city’s first subway system, the recently opened new international airport in Quito’s Tababela district, plus a series of hotel expansions.
