RCCL Slashes Fuel Surcharge for 2010 Sailings
Because of the recent reduction in global fuel prices, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is eliminating its fuel surcharge.
The company said that a fuel surcharge would not apply to Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises bookings made on or after Nov. 10, 2008, for sailings that depart on or after Jan. 1, 2010.
RCCL has established guidelines determining whether the company will refund surcharges for 2009 and 2010 sailings that were booked prior to Nov. 10. The company will record the price of West Texas Intermediate fuel on the New York Mercantile Exchange on set dates throughout 2009 and 2010.
RCCL’s current fuel surcharge is $10 per person, per day for the first two passenger in a cabin on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises. The surcharge is $5 per person, per day for additional passengers in the cabin. Azamara’s fuel surcharge is $15 per person, per day.
