Royal Caribbean Mega Ship to Have Four Pools
When the largest ship in the world debuts in late 2009, it will have one pool with a sloped beach-like entry, another for water sports and another for infants and toddlers. And, of course, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas will have a main pool with umbrellas and the latest in cruise ship trends, private poolside cabanas.
Royal Caribbean International President Adam Goldstein unveiled the Oasis’ fourth and fifth “neighborhoods,” the Pool and Sports Zone and the Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center during the Royal Caribbean International Virtual Travel Show, an online event held last night with AAA Travel/CAA Travel.
The Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center will be the largest spa and gym at sea –no surprise there- and with its size, will have new features like a spa area just for kids, a spa café and various studios for a variety of fitness classes.
Stretching the length of the ship, the Pool and Sports Zone will have the four pools along with two FlowRider surf simulators larger than the ones Royal Caribbean has on its Freedom-class ships. It will overlook two other neighborhoods, Central Park and Boardwalk, on the ship’s top deck.
The front of the Oasis will be home to a much larger Solarium than Royal Caribbean’s other ships. The two-story, adults only area will boast Royal Caribbean’s signature cantilevered whirlpools as well as the new Solarium Bistro, featuring healthy breakfast fare and casual, al fresco dining during the day. In the evening, the Solarium turns into the Club 20 nightspot.
