Sixth International Excelencias Gastronomic Seminar Now Under Way

Over 300 professionals from several countries, all linked to gastronomy, gathered Wednesday at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba for the grand opening of the 6th International Excelencias Gastronomic Seminar. Attendees will discuss on cuisine, cocktails and sommelier-related issues, gastronomic communication and cooking trendsetters on the largest Caribbean island.

“An open heart and good will are what have brought to us such boldface names as Paco Torreblanca, the world’s best patisserie chef, as well as chefs Susi Díaz and Valero Alises, Italian sommelier Andrea Balzani, and many other personalities from the gastronomic realm and the culinary art,” said José Carlos de Santiago, President and Editor-in-Chief of the Excelencias Group, and ambassador of the Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy.

The opening remarks were delivered by Alfonso Marin, secretary-general of the Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy.

“This is the beginning of a brilliant era, the new era of Cuban cuisine, of a new service… It’s not easy to gather this constellation of professionals in Cuba, so that’s why we’re so proud of having been able to get the job done in this respect. Our goal together will be the quest for a Spanish-speaking cuisine by the hand of the world’s finest chefs. I believe we’re on the right track,” said Mr. Marin in his keynote speech.
