Spirit Airlines, the low-cost, no-frills carrier, announced last week it has discontinued its 5 percent agent commission for bookings made through its website. The carrier also has removed revenue and segment minimums for discounted agent travel.

A spokesperson for the airline e-mailed Travel Agent to say the move, which affects agents in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, is part of Spirit’s “continued effort to lower fares and increase flexibility.”
