Spirit Tees Off Year-Round Service to St. Maarten

Spirit Airlines launched its nonstop, year-round service from Fort Lauderdale to St. Maarten Friday on an Airbus A319 aircraft christened “The Spirit of St. Maarten/St. Martin.”

The flights depart Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. from the carrier’s Fort Lauderdale hub and arrive in St. Maarten at 1:50 p.m. The return leg leaves St. Maarten at 2:40 p.m., arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 5:55 p.m.

Tourism officials representing both sides of the Dutch/French island spent last week in Florida on a sales blitz to promote the new service to agents and operators in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa and Orlando.

The promotion highlighted the Caribbean destination’s marketing theme of “Bring your appetite for life” and Spirit’s new service. Other marketing activities will include radio spots from May through August in key U.S. markets to promote the destination and air service.
